On Sunday 2nd September 2018, The Cheshire and Manchester Sunday Morning Football League season kicked off once again. In one of the matches in Division Two, it saw Whalley Range taking on a new team called Wythenshawe Wanderers that recently joined the league.

After an okay pre-season for Whalley Range, with eight goals scored, one win, one draw and one defeat they were confident of a good start to their league campaign. Especially with all the new lads that had joined the club to play alongside the older lads.
